2nd till the 8th JuneThe Down Syndrome Association are focusing on Human Rights this week and have distributed a little leaflet entitled "You are Human". Which is well worth reading. For those of us with kids with Down Syndrome this is familiar territory with the added reassurance that this will carry on unless we take steps to change. I am trying to get hold of an electronic version of the leaflet to post on the site so please watch this space. This is worth reading and still relevant after this week is over. No sooner said than done, click here for your copy! Here is an extract: "I've just left college and I'm looking for work. I'm excited about the possibilities - I'd like to play for Chelsea or star in East Enders! My mum says she has to work full time so at the moment I go to the day centre. All my friends there are a lot older then me and there isn't much to do. I watch TV with them most days. I tell mum I'll be fine. She just shakes her head and looks sad." Carer's Week and Learning Disability WeekWe also have news of events in and around Ealing during Carer's Week, which is from the 9th to the 15th June closely followed by Learning Disability Week which runs from the 15th to the 21st June. Have a look at this News item for more information on activities during this time. Free Entry to the 16th Annual Special Children’s Day at the London ZooHave a look also for this item in the News section as well as this day is fast approaching - 14th June! A great offer from Daytrippers. We haven't been for a while but when the children were younger we had several great days at the Zoo, there's a great sense of belonging! I'm leaving this bit in for those of you who might not of visited the site for a while but you can now go to the newsletter page and find all my old editorials! You could try it now if you like. You can, as always, write to me using the 'Contact Us' link at the top of this page.
Best regards,
