EDCM Family Fun Day - 17th May 2008Yes it's that time of year again and certain people have been hard at work to ensure that this year's EDCM Fun Day is even better than last years. Surely not possible? This year the focus is on "Growing Up" and how the transition into Adult services will effect us and our children. The conference will be introduced by Councillor Ian Gibb with help from Christine Lenehan, Director of the National Council for Disabled Children and Linda Jordan from the Department of Health, who will both help us understand the issues we face. You can download a flier right here with lots more information about the day.
The children with Disabilities RegisterESCAN are updating the children with disabilities register and need YOUR help. They are required by law to keep a register of all children in the community who have physical disabilities, learning disabilities or special needs. The information will be used to help the council plan better services for the future. The EDCM (Every Disabled Child Matters) campaign has called for all local authorities to know how many children there are in the area with disabilities, what kinds of difficulties they have, what services they use and so on. The existing register is out of date and ESCAN need your help to update it. Over the next few weeks you will receive a form to complete. PLEASE fill it in and return it to them. The completion of this form is voluntary but the more people who send it back the better the information will be. Information will be stored securely in line with the requirements if the Data Protection Act 1988. No names or identifying features are ever used, only anonymous data. If you have any questions or want a form and haven’t received one please call 020 8825 6621/6269 or email vmooney@ealing.gov.uk
